FILME DER WOCHE — Newspaper Issue (32 x 45,5 cm)
This Newspaper Issue is a contemporary approach about the situation of cinemas through a pandemic-determined perspective. Cinemas as cultural and social spaces have lost their visitors to increasing online movie services and streaming platforms. The development of diversing media through the internet has increased through global COVID-Lockdowns leading to an economic crisis for most cinemas.
In addition to historical research material on Leipzig's cinema history, the newspaper contains four interviews with Leipzig cinema personalities, as well as an interview with media theorist Lars Henrick Gass.Through this approach the issue questions the way and in what spaces we receive pictures in the futures and points out the relevance of the cinematic space for image perception.
The project was created as part of my master's project »One Upon A Time – Far and Away« in communication design at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle in 2021 in collaboration with Prof. Andrea Tinnes, Dipl. Des. Pierre Pané-Farré and Dipl. Des. Sanna Schiffler.
